If you are visiting Maine and want to see whales, puffins, or the sights, Cap’n Fish’s Cruises is the way to go. In business for over 80 years, Cap’n Fish’s Cruises is the best way to experience Boothbay Harbor’s whales, seabirds, and marine wildlife. Why? Our ships are the newest and fastest in the region, which means you can spend more time with the whales, puffins, and sights. Our Captains have the most experience sighting whales of any Captains along the coast of Maine. Our tours are narrated by onboard Naturalists who are experts on the whales, marine life, or birds we may spot on our whale watch. Our ships feature 360-degree decks for great viewings.

Hello! My family will be in the area in mid-August and I'd love to do a Puffin Cruise. It would be right around 8/13, just before the season ends. What are the chances of actually seeing the puffins that late in the season?
A:
It's hard to predict exactly what day the puffins all leave. It's usually around mid-August. But we can often still find a handful of stragglers at the tail end of their season.

Hello- can anyone share the best place to sit on the whale watch boat? I am hoping to be outside weather permitting. Also is it worth bringing binoculars? Thanks!
A:
Sit at the bow and bring binoculars. The seats are not as comfortable as the rear of the boat, but the view is really what you are paying for.

if we didn't see whale, you will issue a stand by tickets for us, then will there be any expiry date for the stand by tickets? I also want to ask about parking, is there any free parking near your pier? or any street meter parking? if park in the post office, is it free? thanks.
A:
If you don't see a whale, standby tickets are issued and good until the end of the following season. The only free parking in Boothbay Harbor is street parking - which have time limits. …

If you don't see a whale, standby tickets are issued and good until the end of the following season. The only free parking in Boothbay Harbor is street parking - which have time limits. Unfortunately, if going on the whale watch those time limits are not long enough and Cap'n Fish's is not responsible for parking tickets for inappropriate parking choices. We always recommend arriving with plenty of time to find parking.

Q:
What are your parking options? I heard about the post office parking. How far is it to your dock by walking? Thanks
A:
Hello! There is paid parking at 42 commercial street that is right next to our pier - that is typically $20/day. The post office is further up the hill so likely a 5-10 minute walk, depending …

Hello! It is a 100 foot power boat specifically set up for whale watching. It has viewing from the open air top deck, the 360 degree wrap around open air main deck, and an enclosed cabin with tables and bench seating. We typically carry 150 passengers but this year we are limited to 50. We hope that helps!
