John Mahama will be sworn in on Tuesday as Ghana’s president for the third time, as the country faces its worst economic crisis in a generation.

John Dramani Mahama was sworn in for a second term as Ghana's president on Tuesday at a ceremony in the capital Accra, pledging to overcome public discontent by boosting the economy and creating much-needed jobs.

John Mahama was inaugurated as Ghana’s president on Tuesday, returning to the office he held eight years ago following his commanding victory in December elections.

Ghana on Tuesday swore in president-elect John Mahama in the capital Accra before some 20 regional leaders as he promises to lift the West African gold and cocoa producer out of the doldrums.

John Dramani Mahama will be sworn in for his second term as Ghana's president on Tuesday with a fresh mandate to tackle familiar challenges, including corruption, high unemployment, inflation and public discontent.
