The third T20I match between India and South Africa at Centurion faced an unexpected delay due to a swarm of flying ants on the field. The umpires, after discussions with both teams, decided to suspend play as the insects were present in large numbers.

PRETORIA (Reuters) - The third Twenty20 International between South Africa and India was halted early in the home side’s reply after a wave of flying ants descended on Centurion Park in Pretoria on Wednesday and forced the players from the field.

South Africa won the toss and invited India to bat first at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. India and South Africa are locked at 1-1 in the series.

Play was halted just one over after South Africa commenced their chase of the challenging 220-run target set by India in the third T20 at Centurion’s SuperSport Park.
