Celebrini played on a line with newly acquired veteran Tyler Toffoli, who said playing with Celebrini was a big reason why he signed with San Jose this offseason even though the Sharks haven't made the playoffs since 2019 and had the worst record in the NHL last season.

First-overall pick Macklin Celebrini had players talking after his first official training camp practice with the San Jose Sharks.

The Sharks allowed 326 goals last season, the most since 1995-96. Their two-year total of 641 goals against is the most since the franchise’s first two seasons – years when they won a combined 28 games. Yeah, it was that bad. There’s no way to win when you allow nearly four goals and are outshot by nearly 10 per contest.

The Macklin Celebrini era for the San Jose Sharks got off to a fast start on Thursday. The forward, selected No. 1 by the Sharks in the 2024 NHL Draft, said he enjoyed the rigorous pace of his first NHL practice set by new coach Ryan Warsofsky.

At his first official practice, Macklin Celebrini delivered on the high expectations that came with his lofty draft status, looking right at home by scoring a goal and creating scoring chances.
