A rare copy of the first Harry Potter book which was bought for just £3.50 has sold for £8,000 at auction. Jane Thompson-Webb purchased a Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone book from Ottaker's Bookshop in Birmingham when she worked there 27 years ago. It was priced at £4.99, but for Jane, it was £3.50 with her staff discount.
