FC Cincinnati and New York City FC couldn't decide a winner after neither side scored over 90 minutes, but Matt Freese moved NYCFC on to the MLS conference semifinal after making three saves in the penalty shootout in which NYCFC had a 6-5 edge on Saturday night in Cincinnati.

New York City FC kept its 2024 Major League Soccer season alive on Saturday, winning 3-1 at home to FC Cincinnati. The result takes this MLS Playoffs Round One series to a third and final game in Cincinnati next weekend.

A packed TQL Stadium saw a goalless contest complimented by a dramatic penalty shoot-out as the visitors from New York prevailed and advance to the Eastern
