Britain’s police watchdog is assessing complaints from two women over how the Metropolitan Police handled sex crime allegations they made against the late Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed.

One lawyer representing the Justice for Harrods Survivors group called it the worst case of corporate abuse of women the world has ever seen.

Lawyers say 400 women from the United States, Japan, Denmark, Malaysia, South Africa, Canada, the UK and Spain have come forward accusing the late billionaire of sexual misconduct in "the worst case of corporate sexual abuse of women the world has ever known".

The police watchdog will review how Metropolitan Police officers handled allegations of sexual misconduct against former Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) will review two cases the Met Police investigated in 2008 and 2013 after the force referred itself.
