U-Haul report places Illinois near the bottom of places people are moving to
A moving and storage company has released its annual migration trends data, which measures one-way customer moves through the U.S. in 2024, and once again Illinois is near the bottom. U-Haul growth states are ranked by their net gain or loss of U-Haul customers over the past year.
More people making one-way moves into Wisconsin than out, U-Haul says
More people moved into Wisconsin in the last year than moved out, according to one-way trip data from the U-Haul moving company. Wisconsin ranked 22nd in the nation for growth, up four spots from its prior year ranking, U-Haul data shows, and the state has been a net-growth or break-even state for the last five years.
More people moving away from the Golden State, U-Haul reports
Although U-Haul data shows more people leaving the state, the US Census Bureau recently reported a slight rise in California's population. In April of 2020, the state's population was more than 39.5 million.
U-Haul: DFW metro ranked No. 1 for one-way moves in 2024
The Dallas-Fort Worth metro was the hottest destination in the country for where people were moving last year, according to the latest annual ranking from U-Haul International Inc. Austin ranked No. 5 among the top U.S. growth metros in 2024, and Houston ranked No. 9.
