LOS ANGELES - The Lakers canceled Thursday's scheduled home game against the Charlotte Hornets as devastating wildfires continued to rage across Los Angeles, forcing nearly 180,000 families to evacuate their homes.

The Los Angeles Lakers were forced to postpone their game on Thursday against the Charlotte Hornets due to the raging wildfires throughout Southern California. It remains to be seen when the game will be made up but the NBA decided that it was best to move things until it was safer.

Dry conditions across Southern California set the stage for a series of deadly wind-driven wildfires that burned thousands of homes and other structures in the Los Angeles area in early January 2025.
