Two South Carolina colleges were named among the national rankings, with Clemson University leading the state at ranking No. 80. The University of South Carolina was also among the national rankings at No. 121.

Several North Carolina universities have reason to celebrate, thanks to the release of one of the year’s most anticipated college rankings lists.

U.S. News & World Report's yearly Best Colleges list dropped Sept. 24 and Florida universities remained mostly stable. The list, now in its 40th year, now more heavily weighs an institution's outcomes like graduation rate and the social mobility of Pell Grant recipients.

U.S. News rankings considered a number of factors including tuition price, enrollment numbers, testing score and community engagement. Rankings are broken down into main categories: national universities and national liberal arts colleges.

IU was ranked the 34th best public university and 73rd best overall for the second year in a row in the new U.S. News and World Report.
