The Madhya Pradesh High Court granted six weeks to the state for the Union Carbide factory waste disposal under safety guidelines. The court also banned incorrect media reporting. This follows unrest in Pithampur over the waste's relocation.

The waste was shifted from the now defunct Union Carbide factory to the disposal site at Pithampur in Dhar district.

During the hearing on Monday, state's Advocate General Prashant Singh said that containers cannot hold the waste for too long and sought permission to unload them after taking the people of Pithampur into confidence and dispelling fear from their minds.
